Smart Shopping

You can be a smart shopper in no time by
following this simple guide, helping you to save
time, money and
waste.
Save Money
- Try using a lunchbox instead of sandwich
bags.
- Tea towels are a washable alternative to
paper towels.
- Plastic bags can be reused as bin liners or
as an alternative to bubble wrap.
Save Time
- Buy high quality goods that will last.
- If possible buy milk from a milkman in
returnable glass bottles.
- Try using non-disposable items such as
rechargeable batteries and real nappies.
Save Waste
- Take your own shopping bags with you – and
refuse to use lots of plastic carrier bags.
- Buy large drink bottles, detergent bottles
etc instead of lots of smaller ones.
- Alternatively buy cleaning products in
re-fills where possible.
- Close the loop by buying goods made from
recycled materials.
Avoiding disposable
items:
- Try using rechargeable batteries for your gadgets, they are
always at hand and you can avoid buying lots
of disposable batteries (which no doubt you will be out of
just when the TV remote dies!)
- Disposable or single use cameras are expensive and produce
poorer quality images than a compact camera that you can keep for
many years.
