Household Recycling Centre A - Z

A

Asbestos – Please inform site operates of any items containing asbestos upon arrival on site. Containers on site are kept locked, any items should be double bagged, and can be disposed of at the following sites:

It is advisable to contact the site in advance to ensure there is available capacity.

Bikes taken to Bilford Road (Worcester East), Hallow Road (Worcester West), Kidderminster, Pershore (Hill & Moor) and Hereford (Rotherwas) HRC will be collected by local charities/organisations for re-use. Bikes are accepted at all other centres but will not be re-used.

Batteries including automotive batteries, can be recycled at all Household Recycling Centres.

Books / CD / DVD can be recycled at the following sites:

CD / DVD / Books can be recycled at the following sites:

Chemicals and Paint If you wish to dispose of any chemicals it is advisable to contact the site in advance to ensure there is available capacity. Water based paints can be disposed of in the landfill container. Chemicals and paints, such as gloss, should be disposed of at sites with facilities for chemical disposal. These include the following sites:

Cooking Oil can be recycled at Bilford Road (Worcester East) and Stourport HRC. Containers are kept locked, upon arrival please identify to a site attendant that you wish to dispose of cooking oil. It is advisable to contact the site in advance to ensure there is available capacity.

Commercial Vehicle and Trailer (CVT) Permits - See CVT page for full details.

Computer Monitors, Televisions (including LCD and flat screens) and Laptops  can be recycled at all Household Recycling Centres EXCEPT Tenbury Wells. Alternatively there are re-use organisations who will re-use unwanted Laptops and Computers.

Computer Towers can be recycled at all sites EXCEPT Tenbury Wells. They can be recycled in the small electrical appliances container at the following sites:

At other sites they can be recycled in the Scrap Metal container. Alternatively there are re-use organisations who will re-use unwanted Laptops and computers.

Drink & Food Cans can be recycled at all Household Recycling Centres EXCEPT Tenbury Wells

DVD/ CD / Books can be recycled at the following sites:

Electrical Items can be recycling at all Household Recycling Centres EXCEPT Tenbury Wells. There are containers for small electrical appliances at the following sites:

Electrical items at all other sites (EXCEPT Tenbury Wells), and larger electrical appliances can be recycled in the Scrap Metal container.

Emergency Permits are only for use in an Emergency, not as an alternative to use of CVT Permits. A full set of CVT permits can be obtained from Worcestershire County Council by completing an application and returning it  to the address detailed on the application.

Engine Oil can be recycled at all Household Recycling Centres EXCEPT Tenbury Wells It is advisable to contact the site in advance to ensure there is available capacity.

Energy Saving Light Bulbs can be recycled with fluorescent tubes at all sites.

Expiry Date - There is a two week expiry date on all Emergency Permits issued. There is no expiry date for regular issued permits.

Fluorescent light bulbs/tubes can be recycled at all Household Recycling Centres.

Fly Tipping - The Environment Agency advise that any incidents of fly tipping are reported to the relevant local authority to investigate. If you have had waste fly tipped on your property The Waste Directory can provide you with details of licensed facilities able to accept the waste for safe disposal.

Fridges & Freezers can be recycled at all Household Recycling Centres EXCEPT Tenbury Wells 

Foil can be recycled at all Household Recycling Centres.

Food & Drink Cans can be recycled at all Household Recycling Centres EXCEPT Tenbury Wells

Gas Bottles can be recycled at all Household Recycling Centres EXCEPT Tenbury Wells

Glass Jars & Bottles can be recycled at all Household Recycling Centres EXCEPT Tenbury Wells & Upton-upon-Severn.

Green waste is acceptable at all Household Recycling Centres. Cuttings larger than 2 metres in length, and 100mm in diameter can only be accepted at the following sites:

Plasterboard – As of 1st April 2009 the Environment Agency have changed their ruling on plaster and plasterboard disposal. As a result plaster and plasterboard can only be disposed of at the following sites:

Re-use – There are re-use containers at Bromsgrove (Quantry Lane) and Pershore (Hill & Moor)  HRC collecting furniture and other small items, which is collected by a local organisation for re-use.

Shoes can be recycled at all Household Recycling Centres EXCEPT Tenbury Wells & Upton-upon-Severn.

Soil Conditioner - You can buy Green Grow soil conditioner made from your composted green waste at most Household Recycling Centres at a cost of £2 per bag. Telephone your local site to check availability. At the Pershore (Hill and Moor) HRC you can buy it loose at £2.50 per tonne + VAT, or bring your own bag and fill it for £1, for queries regarding collection of loose soil conditioner please contact Pershore HRC on 01386 861434.

Soil & Rubble can be recycled at all Household Recycling Centres EXCEPT Tenbury Wells

Tetrapak can be recycled through your kerbside recycling collection.

Textiles can be recycled at all Household Recycling Centres EXCEPT Tenbury Wells & Upton-upon-Severn

Timber & Wood can be recycled at all Household Recycling Centres EXCEPT Tenbury Wells

Tyres -Tyres can be disposed of at all HRC's except Tenbury Wells If you wish to dispose of more than 4 tyres please contact the site you wish to use in advance.

Weight Restriction A 3.5 tonne gross vehicle weight restriction was introduced on the 01 June 2011 at all of our Household Recycling Centres - all vehicles over this limit will be denied access.
