Why was the permit scheme introduced?
- The CVT permit scheme was introduced to prevent the use of
sites by traders disposing of their business waste, at a cost
bourne by the council tax payers of Herefordshire and
Worcestershire. The scheme was introduced to increase efficiencies
in terms of costs, and improve the service for genuine residents by
reducing inputs to the sites, and therefore queuing.
How do I use my CVT permits?
- Upon arrival to the Household Recycling Centre you
will need to hand your permit to the Recycling Assistant, who will
check the details on the permit and visually inspect your waste. A
permit does not entitle you to dispose of commercial waste, and if
the Recycling Assistant thinks it may be commercial waste you will
be refused permission to use the site and further enquires will be
made.
How many CVT permits do I get?
- Permits are issued in batches up to a maximum of 8 if you own
your commercial type vehicle or trailer. If you borrow or hire
a vehicle, or another individual from the same address already has
permits you will be issued with a up to 4.
Does the permit have an expiry date?
- There is a two week expiry date on all
Emergency Permits issued. There is no
expiry date for CVT permits.
How do I get more permits?

if I change my vehicle?
- You will be required to complete and return a signed copy of
the application form and send it to Worcestershire County
Council at the address detailed on the application form, with
supporting evidence. To speed up the process please indicate your
Applicant ID (located on the in the top right hand corner on your
permits) when making your request.
- Alteratively you may go into any Hub in Worcestershire or Info
in Herefordshire Centre with your supporting evidence. Details of
any changes will be taken by the adviser and passed on to
Worcestershire County Council.
- All CVT permits are only valid for the vehicle or trailer
described, and for the named driver. Permits are
non-transferable.
What if I change address?
As long as you are move to somewhere with in Herefordshire or
Worcestershire you will still be able to use any Household
Recycling Centre to dispose of your household waste. You can up

What if I don't have the V5 (logbook) for the
vehicle?
- If you are waiting for the DVLA to return the V5 (logbook) to
you then you can apply for CVT permits using a copy of the New
Keepers Supplement, accompanied by a copy of your insurance
documents to verify that you are the vehicle owner.
What if I borrow a van or trailer to dispose
of household waste?
- You will still be required to obtain a permit in advance of
using any Household Recycling Centre. Within the application
form you will need to complete the section about the owner of
the vehicle. You will still need to provide supporting evidence in
the form of a letter authorising your use of the vehicle.
What if I hire a vehicle at short notice?
- If you hire a vehicle at short notice you may obtain an
Emergency Permit from your local Worcestershire Hub or Info in
Herefordshire Centre. You will be required to complete an
application form. Upon arrival at the Household Recycling
Centre you will be required to hand your permit to the
Recycling Assistant with proof that you hired the vehicle (i.e.
copy of the hire contract) before you will be allowed to enter the
site.
