County Council's Let's Waste Less roadshows prove to be a hit

Worcestershire County Council's Waste Prevention Team spread the 'Let's Waste Less' message last week and helped visitors find out how they can make small changes that make a big difference.

Let's Waste LessOfficers were on hand at roadshow events to offer useful hints and tips on a range of things from how to cut down food waste, increase recycling and make the perfect compost at Webbs of Wychbold, Droitwich, and Kidderminster Town Hall on November 3 and 4.

More than 250 people stopped by to find out more about accessing and get the most out of the new http://www.letswasteless.com/ website that is packed with a host of advice on reducing waste.

The new website, put together in partnership with Herefordshire Council, has been set up so people can find out how they can make their own household waste work for them.

It's covers all aspects of waste prevention and offers easy to follow tips and simple – often quirky – ideas on how people can organise things like Swap Shops where communities can come together to trade unwanted items.

Cllr Anthony Blagg, Cabinet Member for Waste and Sustainability and recently recognised as one of the West Midlands top 50 Green Leaders said: "I'm really pleased the roadshow events was successful. What's great about the advice the team offers is that it's so easy. It really is a case of small changes making a big difference.

"I'd like to encourage anyone who couldn't make it to log on to the new http://www.letswasteless.com/ website that is packed with useful tips on how everyone can start reducing waste."

Residents are being reminded that they still have the chance to get their hands on some top prizes through a competition to mark the launch of the new website. To be in the chance of winning an eco-kettle, DAB radio or one of five 'Love Food Hate Waste' goodie bags, simply visit the website and enter the on-line competition. Entries must be in by November 30.
