Master Composters
Master Composters are volunteers who encourage others to take up
home composting and support those who need a little composting help
and advice.
Worcestershire County Council and Herefordshire Council in
association with Garden Organic have so far trained 94 volunteers
to promote the benefits of home composting since April 2006.
Master Composters do this by attending local
events and shows, giving talks, writing articles, providing
composting demonstrations, talking to friends and neighbours,
helping local schools and generally spreading the word about home
composting; enthusing new composters and providing support and
advice to existing composters.
The Master Composters Programme is making a
massive contribution towards home composting throughout
Herefordshire and Worcestershire and we are always looking for more
people to join the team.
Our existing volunteers are an enthusiastic
and motivated team, who are doing a fantastic job in promoting home
composting. Becoming a Master Composter is a great way to meet new
people, learn valuable skills and benefit from being part of a team
that makes a difference.
Volunteers will be given full training in
home composting and other related environmental issues. They will
be expected to contribute a minimum of 30 hours over 12 months.
Travel expenses will be paid.
